Long-Term Loyalty Versus Casual Commitments
Topic: Discipleship Verse: Luke 14:25–14:35
Guest preacher and Trinity Church Pastor/Elder Thomas Terry preaching from Luke 14:25-35.
In this text Jesus challenges his followers to maintain a long-term loyalty versus just a casual commitment to Him. Salvation is free, following Jesus is costly. This is why Jesus requires his followers to count the cost and take up our cross and follow him. We must be on guard against having deeper ties to family and self interest which compromise our allegiance to Jesus. We should be quick to repent when we stumble in this way remembering that Jesus is quick to forgive and he carries and preserves those who are his true followers.
